NOISE TEST STAND

The noise test stand was developed to determine if an AC motor has noise that is not part of normal operation. Some noises that our system can detect are defective bearings, rotor touching the stator, mylar touching the moving parts and startup noise. Because of ambient noise cancellation there is no need for a heavy sound-proof booth. The software application was developed using NI LabVIEW and the NI sound and vibration module.

THERMAL PROTECTOR TESTER

This equipment was designed to test thermal protectors in AC motors on locked rotor conditions. The tester determines the time it takes to trigger the protector turning the motor off. The software application was developed with NI LabVIEW using DAQ equipment.

IRON TESTER

The project was the design and construction of an iron tester. It has 16 stations. The basic idea was to build an equipment that can test temperature and power and indicate pass-no pass results and do it on every station individually, the capacity to generate reports and make Hipot tests.

EPOXY IMPREGNATION EQUIPMENT

This equipment was developed to impregnate epoxy to stators. It has two stations, a PLC an operator interface and epoxy dispenser

The basic operation of this machine consists on mounting and connecting a stator on one station, after pushing a start button, the machine connects power to the stator in order to heat it and begins turning it; when it reaches the curing temperature it stops and the part can be removed
